For a time such as THIS:
In February and March 2010 Vancouver welcomes the Olympics and
Paralympics and we invite you to come and join us here in Vancouver as
we welcome the world to our city.
Why send an outreach team here, a wealthy city, a beautiful city, a
city that’s got it all. In fact Vancouver is consistently in the top
three most desirable places to live in the world. So yes it does look
like somewhere that is a not as appealing for missions team.
However there is another side to our city. Vancouver is one of the
least churched cities in North America and the percentage of
Christians here is lower than many parts of the ‘unreached’ world. We
of course have easy access to the gospel, but it has been rejected by
many. We need to see our city re-evangelised, a new spiritual
awakening and this is why we want you to come and join us in this
significant year.
Why not join us during the Olympics or Paralympics, but if this is
just not viable for you or your team we invite you to come at another
point during this year. This is definitely a “such a time as this”
moment in the history of our city.
Vancouver has emerged as a world class city in the last couple of
decades and has an influence around the globe, especially in Asia. A
word the Lord gave us a couple of years ago was, “The more people
you bring to Vancouver, the more you will see sent out” and this is
one of our goals to see hundreds if not thousands of people sent out
from Vancouver to the ends of the earth. We have over 180 countries
represented in our population which is astounding for a city a little
over 2 million.
We believe great things will come out of this year, new ministries
will be planted and that we will see many people reach the nations.
