For a time such as THIS:
In February and March 2010 we welcomed the Olympics and
Paralympics to our great city of Vancouver. The world also came
as well as many outreach teams from around the world.
Why send outreach teams to Vancouver? Some would say Vancouver
is a wealthy city, a beautiful city, a city that’s got it all. In fact, Vancouver
is consistently in the top three most desirable places to live in the world.
So yes it might seem to be an odd place to send an outreach team at first
glance.
However, there is another side to our city. Vancouver is one of the
least churched cities in North America and the percentage of
Christians here is lower than many parts of the ‘unreached’ world. We
of course have easy access to the gospel, but it has been rejected by
many. We need to see our city re-evangelised, a new spiritual
awakening and this is why we want you to come and join us in this
significant year.
You may have missed us during the Olympics, but why not join us at
another point during this year. This is definitely a “such a time as this”
moment in the history of our city.
Vancouver has emerged as a world class city in the last couple of
decades and has an influence around the globe, especially in Asia. A
word the Lord gave us a couple of years ago was, “The more people
you bring to Vancouver, the more you will see sent out”. This is
one of our goals, to see hundreds if not thousands of people sent out
from Vancouver to the ends of the earth. We have over 180 countries
represented in our population which is astounding for a city a little
over 2 million.
We believe great things will come out of this year. New ministries
will be planted and we will see many people reach the nations.
Please take a look around our site for more information on our various
programs and hope to see you in Vancouver soon.
